Dear Hilbert College community:

Hilbert College Dean of Students Gregory Roberts updated the students with a message upon their return to campus this week.  However, as the health and safety of our students, faculty and staff are paramount, I would like to take this opportunity to communicate with you regarding the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) and the measures our college is taking to protect the well-being of all members of our community.

Hilbert College is closely monitoring the spread of the novel Coronavirus. We will continue to follow guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), World Health Organization (WHO), New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH), as well as professional organizations within higher education to ensure the well-being of our community.

The college is using its existing emergency preparedness and response mechanisms to take proactive and preventive measures to help ensure the health of the campus community. Hilbert has plans outlined if there is a suspected or confirmed case and procedures for responding and communicating as needed.

To date, there are no known cases of coronavirus in the Hilbert College community. The college’s highest priority remains the health, well-being, and safety of Hilbert College students, faculty, and staff and future decisions will be made with this in mind.  A spring break trip to Italy for faculty and students last week was cancelled.  Hilbert community members are asked to report any personal travel, especially to areas identified by CDC advisories (https://wwwnc.cdc.gov/travel/notices), to the Student Life office – Franciscan Hall 107, 716-926-8935 of fill out this form.

I encourage every member of our campus community to stay informed about COVID-19. To that end, Hilbert has developed this website to provide factual information from authoritative sources such as the CDC, the New York State Department of Health and more.

I would like to stress that we will update this site regularly, so please check it for important updates, including this one and the previous message distributed from Dean Roberts.

Sincerely,

Michael S. Brophy
President
