Captain Tanya Sánchez is a 2006 graduate Bachelor of Science from Ohio University and 2011 Graduate Mater of Human Relations from The University of Oklahoma. She is currently a Doctoral Candidate at Northcentral University, with a focus in Organizational Leadership. She earned an officer commission from USAF Detachment 650, Reserve Officer Training Cops (ROTC). She holds the rank of Captain, and is an Air Battle Manager, stationed at Tinker Air Force Base, OK.
Captain Sánchez serves as the Chief of Training, where she leads processes and training events for over 300 students in 15 different mission qualifications in the E-3 Sentry Airborne Warning and Control System (AWACS). She leads Operations Group training to deliver results to meet the Wing Commander’s intent to organize, train, equip, and maintain combat ready forces, aircraft, and communications equipment for rapid deployment and employment across the globe, bringing flexible and responsive battle management capability to combatant commanders.
Captain Sánchez also serves as an adjunct instructor at Hilbert college and is currently instructing the Conflict and Cooperation in the Adult and Graduate Studies program.
Captain Sánchez has received several awards and decorations for her homeland and expeditionary service, to include two Air Medals, two Air Force Commendation Medals, the National Defense Service Medal, the Expeditionary Service Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal and the Korean Defense Service Medal. She has also been lauded for her leadership with multiple awards, including the 7th Air Force Tuskegee Airmen Award, for her outstanding achievements in service to the community; also, she has twice-won the unit-level Lance P. Sijan Leadership award for demonstration the highest quality of officer leadership.
Captain Sánchez is a resident of Oklahoma City and is happily married to her husband Derrick.
