Louis P. Violanti, JD, was born the youngest of nine children to Lou and Rita Violanti and is a life long Lackawanna resident. He attended Lackawanna schools from kindergarten on and is a 1991 graduate of Lackawanna High School, 1995 graduate of Canisius College with a Bachelor’s in Political Science and 1999 graduate of the Thomas M. Cooley Law School where he received his Juris Doctor. He and his wife Kelly have three beautiful children, Sophia, Louis and Noah.
Professionally, he is employed by the Lackawanna City School District. As a former practicing attorney, he was an Associate Judge in the Lackawanna City Court and maintained a general practice Law Office there as well. Prior to that, he was an experienced prosecutor with the Erie County District Attorney’s Office. There, he worked directly with numerous law enforcement agencies at the State and Federal levels, including the Joint Terrorism Task Force, Career Criminal Task Force and Operation Impact/Gang Suppression. In addition, he has instructed at the Erie County Police Academy, Federal Bureau of Investigation, New York State Prosecutor’s Training Institute and numerous community events. Moreover, he is a former President of the Lackawanna Area Chamber of Commerce.
