  • Alumni Email Account Policy | May 18, 2022

Hilbert College has historically extended email account privileges as a courtesy to qualified Hilbert alumni. Effective June 1, 2022, the College has a new policy and process for the use of these email resources going forward.

    Policy

    1. Upon termination of enrollment status, Hilbert College network email will be suspended one year (12 months) after disenrollment. As an example, for the Class of 2022, email services will be suspended on June 1, 2023.

    2. Disenrollment is defined as a change from activated academic status to either completed (graduated), withdrawn, dismissal or discontinued. If a student graduates, their academic status changes to “completed” and their account will be transferred to Alumni status for one year (as noted above).

    3. Notification for deactivation of the account will be provided by Hilbert IT on a quarterly basis, providing ample time to transition to an alternative non-Hilbert email account.

    4. If enrolled in a Hilbert College graduate program, the primary relationship with the College will return to student status and the Hilbert email will not be disabled. If employed by Hilbert College, the primary relationship will become an employee and the Hilbert email account will remain active. These are the only two exceptions for the email account to remain active after disenrollment.

This Hilbert College policy is administered by Hilbert College Chief Information Officer, Jeremy Trumble (jtrumble@hilbert.edu) and the Director of Annual Fund and Alumni Engagement, LeeAnn Petronsky (lpetronsky@hilbert.edu).

All inquiries or requests should be directed to the Alumni Office as the primary point of contact. Additional contact information: alumnirelations@hilbert.edu or 716.926.8963.

Hilbert College’s Strategic Plan Delivers Results at Halfway Point

Jul 21, 2022

HAMBURG, N.Y. – Hilbert College launched its strategic plan, Hilbert 2025, in January 2020 with four distinct goals: 1) Enhancing the Franciscan Mission and Identity, 2) Growing Enrollment, 3) Strengthening Academic Performance and the Student Experience, and 4) Strengthening its Financial Position. At the midway point of the plan, the College has made some tremendous strides towards fulfilling its strategic intent. This link provides a detailed look at the College’s progress.

Additionally, the Hilbert 2025 Advisory Council has appointed seven new members this year.  The council serves in its advisory capacity as the College continues to implement the strategic plan.  The Hilbert 2025 Advisory Council, which is comprised of business, not-for-profit, government, and community leaders, has 60 members and nearly half of those members are Hilbert alumni. Below is the list of new members for 2022. The entire list of Hilbert 2025 Advisory Council members can be found here.

“While there is still much work to be done, it is important for us to celebrate some significant milestones,” Hilbert College President Dr. Michael S. Brophy said. “We have meaningfully advanced our mission and values on campus. We have increased our enrollment by investing in our athletic programs, launching online and international initiatives, and expanding our relationship with Buffalo Public Schools. We have improved the student life experience on campus by renovating multiple student spaces and launching our Digital Campus Initiative, which will provide all on-campus undergraduate students with a laptop and digital textbooks.”

Hilbert will install a new exhibit, set to open this August, to support the College’s mission, history, and heritage. The addition of a full-time Vice President for Mission & Equity has enhanced Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion training and development programming.  Hilbert is prepared to welcome its largest class of new incoming students this fall, thanks to new athletic programs, new academic programs, and the expanded online and international enterprises. The expanded access to the Say Yes to Education program and Dual Enrollment for high school students has increased enrollment from Buffalo Public Schools.  Hilbert was selected this year as the exclusive higher education partner for the CareerWise Greater Buffalo Youth Apprenticeship program, a Say Yes Buffalo initiative which is designed to match high school youth with career opportunities.

The physical campus has been improved with new athletic fields, a fire pit in the quad, outdoor kitchen in the residential quad, modern furniture in the dining hall, and a complete renovation of the Learning Commons in McGrath Library. Coming this fall the campus will have improved wireless accessibility and enhanced campus safety, including new security cameras. In the past two years, overall fundraising at Hilbert has increased exponentially, as the College has received two $500,000 grants from The Mother Cabrini Foundation, the largest grants in Hilbert’s history, and a $265,000 grant from The John R. Oishei Foundation.  This September, Hilbert will host a 125th/65th Anniversary Gala to celebrate the 125th Anniversary of the College’s founders, the Franciscan Sisters of St. Joseph, and the 65th Anniversary of Hilbert College.

Hilbert College, located in suburban Hamburg, N.Y., south of Buffalo, is a private four-year college founded in 1957 in the Catholic Franciscan tradition. With over 800 students, Hilbert is a dynamic Western New York college that offers career-focused majors, including one of the top criminal justice programs in the region, and more than 50 minors and concentrations. The college’s engaging, student-centered campus community offers numerous leadership, internship, and service learning opportunities from which students launch successful careers while making positive changes in their communities. The Hilbert Blueprint promotes a well-rounded student experience over four years – starting with the Foundations Seminar in the freshman year, followed by Sophomore Service, Junior Symposium, and culminating with the Senior Capstone. Hilbert has expanded its academic offerings with the college’s first graduate programs in criminal justice administration and public administration, including a track in health administration.
