HAMBURG , N.Y. – Following a presentation by the Hilbert College Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE) organization on market economics, success skills, entrepreneurship, personal finance, and ethics, local middle and high school students will compose essays about a product to demonstrate their understanding of the concepts learned.
Hilbert SIFE project manager Rosanne Gawronski of West Seneca will give a class presentation to eighth-graders at 1:30 p.m. Nov. 14 at Notre Dame Academy in Buffalo. Another presentation to an entrepreneurship class made of up grades 10-12 will be held at 1:30 p.m. Nov. 28 at Pioneer High School in Yorkshire.
For the essay contest, students will select a product and describe how the product will be priced, promoted and distributed. A panel of judges will select the winners based on uniqueness and innovation, content and style.
Representatives from the business and education community are sought to serve as judges. Sponsorship opportunities are also available. Interested individuals may contact Daniel Roland, Hilbert SIFE co-director, at 926-8872, or e-mail droland@hilbert.edu.
Sponsorship proceeds will help provide U.S. savings bonds to winning middle and high school students.
