HAMBURG, NY – The Hilbert College men’s volleyball team closed out the home portion of their 2012 season in a three-set loss to Penn State Behrend March 21. Penn State’s .477 hitting percentage contributed to their two-game sweep of the Hawks dropping Hilbert to 6-16 overall.
Behrend’s Evan Fullerton led his squad with 33 set assists and five kills. Nate Steele finished with team-high 12 kills while Anthony Capizzi’s .727 hitting percentage (nine kills) led the team’s charge.
Fred Sickau’s 11 kills were very impressive and powerful but it was Adam Weaver who finished with a team best 13 kills (.550). Ryan Ratajczak was credited with another double-digit dig night (13) and Stephen Phillips earned 29 assist of the team’s 31 assists.
Hilbert travels to Beverly, MA this weekend to participate in the Endicott Invitational, a very competitive fourteen-team tournament, March 24 and 25. The Hawks face Johnson & Wales (10-8) and #12 Hunter (15-7) Saturday. They turn-around and play Stevenson (10-9) and Sage (14-5) before they head back to Western New York. Other top 10 teams participating in the tournament are: #5 Stevens, #8 MIT and #10 Rivier. Follow the tournament results at this link:

Hilbert finishes their season March 31st when they face the number one seeded team, Medaille College, in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference semi-final game at 11am. The championship game is set for 5pm that afternoon.
