HAMBURG, NY – Hilbert College improved to 3-4 overall after their 13-9 victory over Wells College in men’s lacrosse April 9. With a balanced scoring attack in the win, the Hawks positioned themselves in 3rd place in NEAC standings with a 3-1 record.
Six different Hawks beat the Wells goalie with Elliot Russillio, Nick Cavaleri and Greg Zitnik accounting for nine of the 13 Hilbert goals and Doug Takac {in photo to right} netted twice with three assists. William Wagner secured his second win of the season making four saves on the day.
Wells took a 6-5 lead into half time and Hilbert responded with a 5-1 run in the third quarter. The Hawks still held the advantage in the 4th (3-2) settling in for the important conference win.
Hilbert was the better team statistically winning 20 of the 27 face-offs, almost tripling up on the ground ball count (35-13), and out-shooting the visitors 46-31.
The Hawks are scheduled to host Thiel College April 11 with a 4pm face-off.
