Buffalo, NY - Hilbert College and D'Youville College got to play their AMCC baseball doubleheader today at Coca-Cola Field. Hilbert hung on for a first-game win and won going away in the nightcap. In game one, Hilbert scored four times in the first three innings then held off a late D'Youville charge to win 4-3.
Hilbert pitcher Nick Sherman tossed a complete game four-hitter and recorded 10 strikeouts. Offensively, outfielder Joe Pernick went 1-3 with two RBI.
D'Youville made it interesting, scoring three times in the sixth. The Spartans also got a runner to second with one out in the seventh but left the tying run stranded to end the game. Jordan Vokes went 2-3 with two RBI for D'Youville.
In the nightcap, Hilbert scored early and often en route to a 14-1 win and the doubleheader sweep.
Chris Hoak went 4-5 with two doubles and a triple. Curt Macysyn belted a double, a triple, and had a team-high four RBI.
Hilbert also recieved a stellar pitching performance from Garrett Pauly, who tossed a two-hiiter and struck out eight for the win.
