HAMBURG, N.Y. – National security, including espionage and cybercrime, will be examined by top experts in the field at a law enforcement conference being held from 8 a.m.-2:30 p.m. May 24 in Hilbert College’s William E. Swan Auditorium.
Speakers and planned sessions for the conference, “National Security: Protecting Tomorrow’s Technology Today,” will include:
- Robert Thibault, supervisory special agent of the FBI New Orleans Counterintelligence Program, will discuss “Espionage by Proxy” from 8:45-10 a.m.
- Richard Reinhold, section chief of homeland security investigations for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security Counter-Proliferation Investigations Unit, will talk about “Export Enforcement Investigations” from 10:15-11:30 a.m.
- Ralph Durkee, president of Durkee Consulting, Inc., and president of the Information Systems Security Association, will address “Cybercrime and Hacking Trends” from 12:30-1:45 p.m.
- Daniel Oliverio, chairman of Hodgson Russ LLP and leader of the firm’s Business Crimes and False Claims Act practice groups, will cover “Preventing and Responding to Cyber Attacks: The View of a Corporation Counsel” from 1:50-2:30 p.m.
More than 200 law enforcement professionals are expected to be in attendance at the conference, which is being co-sponsored by the Hilbert Criminal Justice Program and Institute for Law Justice, the U.S. Attorney’s Office of the Western District of New York, the FBI, InfraGard, and Hodgson Russ.
