ALTOONA, PA – Hilbert College split matches over the weekend beating Pitt-Greensburg before going to a four-set match against the host institution, Penn State Altoona. The Hawks returned to Hamburg with a 4-2 AMCC record and stand at 14-7 overall. Allegra Johnson led the Hawks with 28 kills while Chelsea Reischuck netted 25 digs and Shannon Memminger passed for 68 set assists and six service aces.
To open the day, Memminger directed the offense with 35 assists, many passes went to Johnson (16 kills in 46 attempts) and Reischuck (14 kills in 39 attempts). The junior setter was also credited with five service aces padding her career total. With two close set scores (25-15,24-26,25-13,26-24), the Hawks defense carried them to victory as Reischuck tallied 15 digs.
In the 25-22,25-23,17-25,25-18 loss to Altoona, Jordan Botsford led with 12 kills, team best .281 hitting percentage and 11 digs. Johnson also finished with a double-double, 12 kills and team high 13 digs. Reischuck and Devan Jonathan each scored two service aces in the four-set match.
Hilbert returns to action October 16 when they host cross-town rival and AMCC foe, Medaille College at 7pm. The Hawks will also honor their two seniors, Devan Jonathan and Rachel Kwiatkowski prior to the match.
