HOUGHTON, NY – After winning the first set 25-19, Hilbert dropped the next three games against NAIA Houghton College (15-9) October 18. The Highlanders finished the match hitting .350 to put the match away 3-1 over the Hawks (14-9).
Hilbert’s Allegra Johnson finished the game with 13 kills and nine digs. Jordan Botsford led defensively with 11 digs and one solo block. The Hawks ended the match hitting .036 from the front line with Shannon Memminger setting 29 assists.
Houghton earned 54 team kills with three players notching double figures. Rebecca Dennee was unstoppable at the net earning 14 kills with only two hitting errors off her 29 attempts (.414). Laurel Wroblicky kept 22 balls in play on defense and Jaimee Green was credited with 41 assists. The scholarship athletes finished with 54 kills and 68 digs while Hilbert earned 33 kills and 47 digs.
Up next for the Hawks is their last home game of the regular season against another non-conference opponent, Wilkes University, October 20. Hilbert then finishes their AMCC schedule with road games at Bradford (10/24) and Franciscan (10/27). The Hawks are still fighting for a play-off spot in the six-team AMCC play-offs which begin October 30.
