Box Score
HAMBURG, NY – After playing eighty-four minutes of scoreless soccer, a crossed-pass into the box ended up in the back of the net, giving La Roche College a 1-0 AMCC win over Hilbert College in women’s soccer October 20. Nicole Ferraco was credited with the score which improved the RedHawks to 3-3-2 in league play. Erin Smith took the loss in net for Hilbert as the Hawks settled into a 0-7-1 league record.
Hilbert’s backline was up to the challenge of defending Bethanie Moreschi, La Roche’s top shooter, as they limited her to four shots on frame. At 84:36 Ferraco centered the ball to the box attempting to set-up a RedHawk shot, but the ball ended up rebounding off a Hilbert defender out of Smith’s reach. After the tie was broken, Hilbert picked up their offensive attack, but time ran out before they could score a late-game goal. Hilbert was outshot 12-4, and La Roche held a 7-0 corner kick advantage, but Hilbert was in the match the entire game minus the unlucky bounce of the ball in the late going.
Prior to the game, Hilbert’s coaching staff and underclassmen honored their seven senior graduating teammates. Pictured above with the 2012 seniors is the Hilbert coaching staff.
The women’s soccer team finishes their 2012 season when they host Penn State Behrend October 23 with a 1pm kickoff.
