BRADFORD, PA – Pitt-Bradford benefitted from their home court advantage as they took a very important four-set conference victory over Hilbert College in women’s volleyball October 24th. The Hawks fought to a 26-24 first set win then battled the Panthers the following three games. Bradford eventually won the match by a slim differential point total of just five (24-26, 26-24, 25-22, 25-23). Both teams played great defense creating a very exciting AMCC contest full of long rallies and strong play at the net.
Bradford earned two more kills (47-45) and two more digs (69-67) than Hilbert and they won the battle at the net, earning 12 unassisted kills and finished with five more blocks than the Hawks.
Hilbert was led by a very involved Allegra Johnson who finished with 16 kills and 20 digs. Three other Hawks earned double figure digs – Chelsea Reischuck (14), Devan Jonathan (13) and Shannon Memminger (10). Memminger set 38 of the team’s kills and Reischuck scored three service aces. Rachel Kwiatkowski was the Hawk Wall getting credit for two solo blocks as well as two assisted blocks.
Bradford’s Taylor McMillen finished with 16 kills, Heil Cassandra with 22 digs and Jenessa Ceprish served five aces.
Both teams moved to 4-4 in league; prior to the match, Hilbert qualified for the AMCC play-offs, while Bradford has to still fight for the last spot. The full field of play-off teams will be announced after the completion of the regular season games, October 27th. The first round games will be played at the higher seeded team October 31 and the championship weekend matches will be hosted by Penn State Behrend, the number one seeded team.
