HAMBURG, N.Y. – In honor of student veterans and all who have served in the U.S. military, Hilbert College will host a Veterans Day morning service and other on-campus activities Monday, Nov. 12.
As part of Hilbert’s Veterans Day observance, American flags will be placed in a cross pattern in the main quad of the campus grounds, along with yellow ribbons hung in order to honor veterans in the armed services.
Activities for the day will start with a flag ceremony at 9:30 a.m. at the college’s flagpole, located in the campus quad. The raising of the flag will be performed following a welcome by Cameron Haag, air force veteran and president of the college’s Military Club, along with Hilbert president, Dr. Cynthia Zane. Rain location for the ceremony will be in the Franciscan Hall Atrium.
At 4:00 p.m., the Military Club will lead a prayer followed by a walk with fellow Hilbert students, faculty, and staff around the main campus road in honor of current military service members and veterans.
In addition to the day’s activities, Hilbert student veterans will receive a free lunch in the Campus Dining Hall, which will be patriotically decorated, to thank them for their service.
