NSCAA 2012 Scholar All East Region
HAMBURG, NY – Nicole Blair (Syracuse, NY/East Syracuse Minoa) was named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Scholar All-Region team. The senior defender was recognized for her solid work in the classroom as much as her performance on the field with her 4th Team Scholar All-East selection.
Blair currently carries a 3.61 cumulative grade point average and expects to graduate in May 2013 with a degree in forensic science/crime scene investigation. The three-year captain played in 68 career games for the Hawks and was the heart and soul of the team’s defense for four seasons. Blair was Hilbert College’s Most Valuable Player the last three seasons in women’s soccer and has been named to the AMCC Academic All-Conference Team since her freshman year.
“Nicole played every minute for the program since she arrived on campus. She is a top notch defender with great 1v1 defensive skills,” said Kelly Starchok, Hilbert’s second-year head coach. “She won balls in the air, played with incredible composure under pressure in the back and her strong tactical awareness kept our defense organized while she marked the opponent’s strongest offensive threat.”
