ROCHESTER, NY – The men’s volleyball faced their toughest opponent February 20th and did not disappoint although the final score may not seem to back up that statement. Hilbert College put forward a challenge in the first and third set, scoring over 20 points both sets, but didn’t hold strong in the middle set, dropping the match to the 2nd ranked Nazareth College (25-20, 25-11, 25-22).
Hilbert moved to 1-5 in the United Volleyball Conference while Nazareth stayed perfect with a 10-0 overall and 5-0 UVC record.
Adam Weaver earned 11 kills and David Mellerski set 20 assists. Anthony Blasz finished with 5 kills and Scott Ross added 4.
Nazareth rotated 17 Golden Flyers into the match. EJ Wells-Spicer assisted on 32 of the 46 Nazareth kills and Tim Zyburt led with 14. Nazareth was credited with 46 kills and a team hitting percentage of .533.
The Hawks will hit the court again February 24th when the travel to North Buffalo to face Penn State Altoona and Medaille to complete the AMCC matches.
