2012-13 AMCC Women's Basketball All-Conference Team
PITTSBURGH, PA – The Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference released the 2012-13 women’s basketball All Conference selections on February 26. Hilbert College’s Natalie Whitman earned a spot on the 3rd Team after leading the Hawks to a 3-22 overall record.
Jessica Pitts (La Roche) was recognized as the Player of the Year and the Defensive Player of the Year, both honors she garnered one season earlier. The Newcomer of the Year was given to Alexis Smith (D’Youville) and Kamela Dissenganner (La Roche) and Patrick Daniel (Pitt-Bradford) shared the Coach of the Year award.
Whitman completed her first full year for the Hawks. The junior forward averaged 13.6 points (#9) and 8.8 rebounds (#6) for Hilbert which ranked her as one of the Top 10 league performers. She finished the season with a .415 field goal percentage even when opponents keyed on her as the primary Hilbert player to defend. Whitman earned 9 double-doubles this year and her most impressive game was in the Hawks road win over Cazenovia when she scored 21 points and grabbed 21 rebounds.
The women’s basketball All-Conference teams are young, with seven juniors dominating the 15 slots making up the three teams. Only three seniors were selected and those athletes were on the 2nd and 3rd teams.
