United Volleyball Coach 2013 All-Conference Awards
ROCHESTER, NY - After finishing the season ranked number one in Kills Per Set in Division III men’s volleyball, junior Adam Weaver was named to the United Volleyball Conference’s Honorable Mention team, as voted by the twelve league coaches.
EJ Wells-Spicer (Nazareth College) headlined the 2013 UVC All-Conference team as the Player of the Year. He was joined by team mate Dan Mowery (Libero/Defensive Specialist of the Year) and Cal Wickens (Coach of the Year). Tim Ferriter (New Paltz) was honored as Rookie of the Year. The twelve-team United Volleyball Conference is considered the most competitive Division III volleyball league, as six of the members are currently ranked in the AVCA Division III Top 15 Coaches Poll.
Weaver amassed the most kills per set (4.32) within the other 61 NCAA Division III institutions who offer men’s volleyball. He completed his third season as a repeat Honorable Mention grabbing the same honor his freshman season. The outside hitter finished with 311 kills (.287), led the Hawks with 31 service aces and added 151 digs to pace the 6-21 Hawks. Weaver set four single season records for Hilbert and became the career record holder in six categories with one full season remaining. Hilbert matched last season’s 2-9 UVC record with victories over Bard and SUNYIT in league play.
Nazareth College dominated the First Team, grabbing three of the seven spots. The Golden Fliers are currently ranked #2 in the nation with a 31-1 record, after they sat atop the perch until their recent loss to #1 Springfield College (28-3).
