BRADFORD, PA – Hilbert College dropped two road AMCC softball game to Pitt-Bradford April 17. Natalie Whitman finished the day with 3 hits for Hilbert who lost 15-0 and 7-0 to the 9-3 (14-10 overall) Panthers. Hilbert moves to 3-9 in league and 5-17 overall.
Bradford started the day with 12 runs in the bottom of the opening inning. A combination of 6 hits and 5 Hilbert errors allowed the Panthers to own the game at that point. The Hawks had a chance in the top of the fourth to score when Olivia Battle singled to right field. Runners moved around the bags, but Eliza Stringham was tagged out at home from the long throw from the outfield.
Jaelyn Gotham took the loss in the circle through 4 innings and Whitman and Battle earned the Hawks only hits.
The second game was scoreless until the bottom of the fourth inning. Bradford then broke the seal and put runs on the board each of their next three at bats while holding the Hawks in check. Kayla Lansberry, Amber Grosch, Crystal Hailey each earned hits, while Whitman finished with two.
Devan Jonathan went 5.1 innings before Whitman closed the bottom of the 5th for Hilbert.
The Hawks have only one more home game left on their 2013 schedule and they will celebrate their Senior Day April 20th prior to the AMCC game against Mount Aloysius College at 1pm.
