NEAC Student-Athlete of Week
GANSEVOORT, NY – Kyle Mackowiak (Buffalo, NY) has been chosen as the NEAC men’s lacrosse Defensive Student-Athlete of the Week April 29. The junior defender scooped up 10 ground balls and caused seven turnovers while only committing one of his own to lead the Hawks to a 2-1 league record last week. With the wins, the Hawks secured their first play-off berth in the programs three-year history.
Besides his defensive effort and impressive presence in the back half of the field (six ground balls and three caused turnovers), Mackowiak posted a cluck goal against SUNYIT. His fourth quarter game-tying, unassisted, man-down goal forced overtime against the Wildcats April 27. The Hawks took the game only fifty-seven seconds into overtime which secured a tie for second place in the NEAC standings at 5-2.
This week's honor marked the Hawks third athlete and the program's fifth time being recognized for their stellar performances this season.
