2013 AMCC All-Academic Team
PITTSBURGH, PA – Hilbert College senior Amber Grosch and University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg senior David Coradi have been selected by the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Faculty Athletics Representatives as the conference’s 2013 Scholar Athletes of the Year. They were chosen from a pool of 20 outstanding student-athletes named to the All-Academic Team.
A criminal justice major and psychology minor,
Grosch achieved a 3.85 grade point average while participating in three sports (soccer, basketball and softball) all four years for the Hawks. The Depew, NY native was voted the all-sportsmanship team representative by her basketball teammates in 2013 and was inducted into Chi Alpha Sigma's New York Theta chapter of the National College Student-Athlete Honor Society in 2012. She was also a three-year member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee during her time at Hilbert. At the conclusion of her senior year, Grosch was the recipient of Hilbert College’s McGrath Award, presented to the graduating female student-athlete who has made a significant contribution to athletics along with obtaining the highest grade point average.
Coradi was an applied mathematics major with a minor in statistics, earning a 3.88 grade point average. He received the UPG Campana Math Award and achieved Dean’s List recognition all eight semesters, while also being named to three different honor societies (Chi Alpha Sigma; Phi Kappa Phi; Pi Mu Epsilon). Coradi was a four-year letter winner on the baseball team and captained the squad his senior year. Playing right field and pitcher, Coradi tied the school’s single season record for saves (3) and led the Bobcats to their first play-off appearance since 2009. He was an active member of the UPG Student-Athlete Advisory Committee as well as the AMCC SAAC. Coradi was influential in organizing a Special Olympics fundraiser, “SOPA Hoops Sunday” which is now an annual campus event.
Grosch joins Maggie Fage (2010) and Katy Dorsheimer (2005) as previous Hilbert College AMCC FAR Scholar Athletes of the Year.
