HAMBURG, N.Y. - After leading an inexperienced 2012 team to a 228-stroke improvement in one season, Andy Dvornski is motived to continue the upward swing in the Golf program this year. With five returning Hawks, the 2013 team’s maturity and experience should pave the way for a promising season.
Back for his second season, junior MVP Ryan Ratajczak is expected to pull down his scores and lead the 2013 Hawks. Joining him for his third season is senior Gary Gawera, juniors Vincent Giamberdino, Trevor Schmidt and sophomore Jacob Reinecke. Ratajczak shot a 170 to finish in a tie for 22nd place at the AMCC 2012 Championship. Gawera shot his best score (85) at Peek N’Peak while Reinecke’s 77 lead the Hawks scoring the same day. Junior Jon Macchia joins the program after transferring from Erie Community College.
The Hawks open their season August 31 when they travel to Pine Acres Country Club for the Pitt-Bradford Invitational. Hilbert then hosts their own Invitational September 6 at the Gowanda Country Club to open up a long, golf-filled weekend. The Hawks will compete in central Pennsylvania on back-to-back dates in the Mount Aloysius and Penn State Altoona Invitationals (Ebensburg CC and Sinking Valley CC) on September 8 and 9. After almost a two-week break, Hilbert then squares off at the Medaille Invite (Sep 21) and the Penn State Behrend Invite (Sep 23) to close out the first month of the season. D’Youville hosts their annual Spartan Shoot-Out October 6 as a final test before the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference two-day Championship match (October 13/14) played at Oak Tree Country Club, Middlesex, PA.
