Bradford Results Team by Team Break Down
BRADFORD, P.A. – After an opening round under their belts, the Hilbert College golf team can relax and look forward to their home opener in less than one week. The Hawks grabbed an 11th place finish at the Pitt-Bradford Invitation held at the Pine Acres Country Club August 31. Hilbert dropped 21 strokes off their score from a year ago but their 367 tally today gave them an 11th place finish out of 12 teams.
Penn State Behrend’s Nick Van Damia was the medalist shooting a 73 and his team captured the team win (303) with a four-stroke advantage over Thiel College. It was a tight race until the end when Van Damia held on for a two-stroke lead over a four-way tie for second place.
The Hawks were led by junior John Macchia (Orchard Park, NY/Orchard Park/Erie CC) who raced to an 83 score, beating Ryan Ratajczak (Orchard Park, NY/Orchard Park/Buffalo State) by one stroke. Jake Reinecke (Hamburg, NY/Eden) reached for a 94 while Vinny Giamberdino (Lancaster, NY/Lancaster) finished shooting 106.
After classes start Tuesday, the Hawks can get excited for their annual Hilbert Invitational held at Gowanda Country Club September 6 with a 1pm tee-time.
