HAMBURG, N.Y. – The Hilbert College English Program’s spring Visiting Artist Series will feature Sepideh Yeoh, President of Un1teee (pronounced Unity), a technology consultation firm that focuses on training clients to utilize technology to simplify their practices. Yeoh’s presentation, Life on a Good Note: The Art of Living, will be held on Thursday, May 1 at 7:30 p.m. in the William E. Swan Auditorium on the Hilbert campus. After Yeoh’s presentation, a reception will be held in her honor with free food and refreshments.
Yeoh will discuss a variety of topics: how our rapidly developing technological lives have become too complicated too quickly; how one solution to “the art of living” is living simply; and how the emotional and intellectual quality of our lives significantly improves if we make time to immerse ourselves more fully in the world of art. Yeoh will include a selection of poems by Rumi—the 13th century Persian poet—as one example among many of how the art of poetry provides inspiration, solace, wisdom, and numerous opportunities for self-exploration and enrichment.
Yeoh is a former college administrator and has worked at UB, Hilbert College, and Buffalo State College. She holds a B.A. in Psychology from UB and a M.S. in Student Personnel Administration from Canisius College. She is also a certified Life and Career Coach and founder of G.I.F.T. (Gaining Insight for Transitions) a networking group designed to help women gain clarity and focus through life transitions. Yeoh teaches at the Conejo Valley Adult School in Oak Park, CA and is an active community member. She serves on the Oak Park Unified School District Board of Education and founded the International Gala, an annual event that promotes global citizenship and cultural diversity.
The Visiting Artist Series is free and open to the public, but reservations are requested. Please call 716-926-8856 or email hughes@hilbert.edu.
