HAMBURG, N.Y. – It’s coined as “An evening with NONE of your closest friends!” The Hilbert College No-Tie Gala is one of the most unique fundraisers in Western New York – Hilbert is trading in the rubbery chicken and ballroom for a virtual online gala that eliminates the expenses of a high-priced affair.
The invitation (see below) quips, “Your absence is requested on Thursday, November 6, 2014. We won’t be asking you to sit down for dinner or make small talk with people you really don’t like; all while wearing uncomfortable black-tie attire. Your presence is not required! Grab your blanket, line up the Netflix queue and favorite snack because you are about to experience a truly unique non-event!
Put on your slippers, wash off your makeup and don’t bother to take the dog out… you’re not going anywhere!”
Hilbert’s Vice President for Institutional Advancement Gregg Fort said, “We are continuously looking at ways to drive our annual giving program and the No-Tie Gala gives us a very different way to reach potential donors. The narrative of the No-Tie Gala carries our commitment that all money raised goes directly to support our students.”
Scholarship funds are essential to Hilbert students, many of whom are the first generation in their families to attend college. We would not be able to help these students without the generosity of our loyal donors.
As the invitation states, reserve your space at the No-Tie Gala today. Trust us… we can’t wait to not see you!
