HAMBURG, N.Y. – Lawrence Lesick, Ph.D. has been named Interim Vice President for Enrollment Management at Hilbert College, announced President Cynthia Zane, Ed.D. He started at Hilbert on May 4, 2015 and will remain through the summer, while a search for a permanent Vice President is in progress.
Lesick (LESS-ick) has more than 30 years of enrollment management experience in higher education. In October 2012, he completed a consultation visit at Hilbert to review the Student Services Center. Most recently, Lesick served as Vice President for Enrollment Management at Ohio Northern University. At ONU, he implemented the university’s first recruitment plan and in one year increased freshmen enrollment from 613 to 628 and decreased operating expenses by 24%. Prior to ONU, Lesick was the Associate Vice President for Enrollment Management at Widener University. He enrolled the largest freshmen class in Widener’s history and increased undergraduate full time enrollment by over 12% in his seven years at the university. Lesick also made stops at Wilmington College, Eureka College, Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville, and Alma College.
“Following Larry’s consultation in 2012, the changes that were implemented based on his recommendations resulted in a significant increase in student satisfaction as measured in Hilbert’s annual survey,” Zane said. “We are delighted that he has agreed to return to Hilbert and assume the oversight for this crucial area. Larry’s more than 30 years of experience in enrollment management will be invaluable to Hilbert during this transitional period.”
“I am very excited to be joining the Hilbert team,” Lesick said. “I am confident that my experience will help Hilbert reach its fall enrollment goals, as well as begin the 2016 enrollment process and improve the overall operational effectiveness.”
Lesick is a graduate of Ohio Wesleyan University and received his master’s degree and Ph.D. from Vanderbilt University. He currently holds permanent residence in Ada, Ohio and will reside in Hamburg, N.Y. during his interim tenure.
