HAMBURG, N.Y. – Hilbert College is pleased to announce that Kushnood Haq, Ph.D. has been named to the new position of Vice Provost for Strategic Initiatives. In his new role, Haq will lead the college’s efforts to expand and refresh its degree and non-degree offerings to meet the changing needs of students, employers, and the community.
“Kush has extensive experience in new program development, program assessment, strategic planning, and faculty development,” Hilbert Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs Christopher Holoman, Ph.D. said. “His expertise, combined with his vision, commitment to excellence, and collegiality, makes him the ideal candidate to lead Hilbert’s new strategic initiatives.”
Haq previously was an advisor to the Provost at Hilbert, assisting with various tasks related to program assessment, program development, accreditation, and other institutional initiatives. He also serves as a Professor of Business at the school. Prior to Hilbert, Haq served as the Vice President for Academic Affairs at D’Youville College where he was responsible for an extensive portfolio of several undergraduate, masters, and professional and doctoral programs. At D’Youville, Haq was also involved with strategic and operational planning for the college. He played a key role in outcome assessment of academic programs, external accreditations, restructuring of academic departments and schools, budget planning, academic program development, institutional development initiatives, and internationalization of curriculum and academic programs. He served at D’Youville, in various roles, from 1999 until 2013.
Prior to higher education, Haq served in many corporate and business positions, including stints at Marine Midland Bank, M&T Bank, Buffalo Recycling Corporation, and as President of Emrum International Company, a consulting firm specializing in preparing export market plans and overseas business research and consultation.
Haq received his bachelor’s degree from Canisius College, an MBA from St. Bonaventure University and his Ph.D. in International Trade from the University at Buffalo. Haq and his wife Kate reside in Buffalo.
