HAMBURG, N.Y. – Hilbert College will showcase the research and academic work of the graduate class of 2016 in Master of Public Administration and Master in Criminal Justice Administration with poster presentations on Wednesday, February 10 at 6 p.m.
The evening will provide Hilbert’s graduate students the opportunity to share the research they have been conducting over the past 18 months. Posters are widely used in the academic community as a tool to summarize research information concisely and attractively and to generate discussion.
The poster presentations are open to the media and to the general public.
POSTER EXAMPLE FOR 2016
Hilbert Master of Public Administration student, Scott Kashino – current Hamburg Police officer – will present his research on the Perception of Police by Ethnicity and Police Uniform Type. The main question addressed in this research was whether the uniform type of a police officer alters the rating of the personal traits of that officer.
“The research project did not turn out as I thought it would,” Kashino said. “Initially I thought the traditional uniform style would be viewed as more favorable. The results of the study were interesting to me.”
“The research project certainly helped to put everything together,” Kashino continued. “At the start of the program I was slightly overwhelmed with the task at hand. Once the courses started and I really focused on the project, things seemed to flow relatively well. The fact that I could have a face to face meeting with any instructor or administrator within in a day of such a request was very important to me. I think that the availability was a key to my success in the program.”
