HAMBURG, N.Y. – Kristina M. Lantzky-Eaton, Ph.D. has been named Interim Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs at Hilbert College, President Cynthia Zane announced. Lantzky-Eaton will begin her role at Hilbert on July 5 and will serve a one-year interim term. Hilbert's outgoing Provost Dr. Christopher L. Holoman was named President of Centenary College of Louisiana in Shreveport earlier this year. The search for a permanent Provost/Vice President will begin this fall.
Lantzky-Eaton has been the Chair of the Chemistry Department at St. John Fisher College in Rochester since 2010, where she had supported 11 faculty, two staff, and 10 adjunct faculty. At St. John Fisher, she oversaw the department’s budget, coordinated scheduling with the schools of education, pharmacy, and nursing, secured funding for new instrumentation, and assisted faculty in developing and implementing new teaching strategies.
“We are very happy that Dr. Lantzky-Eaton has agreed to assume the oversight for this crucial area,” Zane said. “Her experience and leadership will be invaluable during this transitional period. We are also grateful that the administration of St. John Fisher has granted her a leave of absence from her current position as Chairperson of the Chemistry Department for the 2016-17 academic year.”
Lantzky-Eaton also developed departmental and campus-wide faculty development programs to support new faculty. She developed a new major in Pharmaceutical Chemistry, which involved seeking and receiving NYSED approval and coordination with the Department of Biology and Wegmans School of Pharmacy for course development. Prior to serving as Chair of the Chemistry Department, she had been a member of the chemistry faculty at St. John Fisher since 2003.
She has an extensive record of accomplishment and service as an educator, including roles in college-wide governance, assessment and accreditation, community service, grant writing, and more. Lantzky-Eaton has held numerous leadership roles in professional development and has published widely in peer-reviewed journals. She has presented nationally at numerous conferences on topics related to STEM and education.
Lantzky-Eaton is a graduate of Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa receiving her bachelor’s degree in Chemistry/Physics. She received her Ph.D. from the University of Wyoming in Physical Chemistry.
In service to her community, Lantzky-Eaton has served on the East Rochester Union Free School District Board, including elected roles of vice president and president. She was a member of the High School Shared Decision Making Team at East Rochester and she is president of the Sea Dragons Swim Club.
