Hilbert College Statement on Campus Threat
On the evening of 4/15/2018, the Hilbert College Campus Safety Department received information, indirectly, that a student on campus was in possession of a weapon. A report was taken and Campus Safety Officers immediately began work to determine if the report was credible. Upon completion of the investigation that evening, it was determined there was no imminent threat to the campus.
Hilbert’s Campus Safety Department followed up with Student Life Staff, the Town of Hamburg Police Department, and Erie County Crisis Services to further evaluate the situation.
The student is now in police custody.
We have and will continue to support law enforcement. Our top priority is ensuring that students are safe and have access to appropriate support services. As much as time has allowed, we have personally reached out to and met with numerous students.
Students are encouraged to remain vigilant and if they feel threatened at any time, call 911 or Campus Safety 479-1233.
