Thank you to all who attended the open forum for students in Swan Auditorium on Thursday. The questions and comments were thoughtful, pertinent, and powerful.
If you were unable to attend and have questions, or you have additional concerns, you are encouraged to contact Jim Sturm, Dean of Students, or any member of the faculty and staff with whom you are most comfortable.
We recognize many of the questions asked did not always have definitive answers, and we understand the frustration that can cause. We want to emphasize that the judicial process and college policies are in place for reasons – most that are required by law – and Hilbert College needs to adhere to those procedures. However, we want to stress – at the same time – that we have heard your concerns and we do not take them lightly.
We, again, want to stress how much we value the feedback and suggestions that we have received thus far. The College will be reviewing, very closely, our emergency management plan, and we will make the necessary adjustments.
As we have said throughout this incident, the safety of our community is our highest priority. To that end, Campus Safety will be working with the Town of Hamburg Police to increase vigilance on campus. Further, please be aware, and make use, of Hilbert’s reporting resources and counseling services.
