This partnership will enable GLX to provide students with access to Hilbert College’s online degree programs through Hilbert College Global. Global Learning Exchange™ is an innovative solution designed to provide highly motivated students around the world with life-changing education opportunities by connecting them to world-class higher education programs in a flexible, cost-effective, and locally supported environment. GLX will offer a variety of program options from multiple participating universities and colleges, including Hilbert, as well as from industry-backed, non-degree skills development and training programs. Pricing for the programs will vary, but Global Learning Exchange™ has developed a model to cap the cost of enrollment according to local market conditions to ensure that programs are broadly affordable.
The partnership with Hilbert College will enable GLX to provide students with access to Hilbert’s online degree programs, including alcohol and substance abuse counseling, business management, criminal justice, cybersecurity, digital media and communications, liberal studies, and psychology.
“We are thrilled about the opportunity to join the Global Learning Exchange™ community,” said Hilbert President Michael Brophy, Ph.D. “This innovative program will allow us to reach an underserved population of prospective students around the world and play a proactive role in addressing the global supply/demand gap in higher education.”
In addition to the wide variety of academic program choices, GLX will provide students with an unprecedented level of support relative to other online learning solutions. In each participating region, Global Learning Exchange™ will leverage local partnerships with education providers and nonprofits to launch GLX Hubs, which will offer a variety of services to prospective and enrolled students. Prospective students will have access to in-person admissions and application assistance. And for enrolled students, the GLX Hubs will offer a positive study environment, reliable Wi-Fi, tutoring and academic support, and career development resources, while also serving as a host venue for social and collaborative learning activities. The first GLX hub recently opened in the Bahamas.
“What makes Global Learning Exchange™ truly different from other online education programs” explained Duane Glader, SVP for Global Learning Exchange™ at Sonic Foundry, “is the fact that we are committed to providing students with not only the academic content but also the in-person support community that we believe is essential to the learning experience.”
