The association established the following awards to honor alumni and friends of Hilbert who personify the College’s core values and tradition of integrity and excellence. These honorees bring merit to themselves and Hilbert through their contributions to society, personal and professional success and support to the College.
Dominique Thompson Alumni of the Year Award
This award is named in memory of alumna Dominique Thompson ’04, who during her short time dedicated an immense amount of time and resources to Hilbert College and the Greater Buffalo Community. Nominated by his/her peers, this award recipient demonstrates the Franciscan values of hope, peace, service, joy, integrity, respect, compassion, and vision as well as encompassing the true spirit of Hilbert College. This individual is active within the community and remains connected to Hilbert College by giving back to the college in various ways, including volunteering at various events. The recipient of this award will be chosen by the number of nominations received. In the case of a tie, the alumni association will break the tie.
Sister Adrienne Faculty / Staff Lifetime Achievement Award
This award was named in memory of Sister Adrienne, a faculty member who encompassed the spirit of Hilbert College and continuously gave back to the Hilbert community in many ways. The recipient of this award is a current or former member of Hilbert’s faculty or staff who emulates the characteristics that Sister Adrienne exhibited while on the Hilbert campus. He/She should display integrity and leadership within the classroom or workplace. This individual provides an environment that promotes lifelong learning and discovery in a truly global society. He/She should possess the Franciscan Core Values of Hope, Peace, Joy, Integrity, Vision, Respect, Service, and Compassion. These Franciscan values should be demonstrated to the students within the lessons learned at Hilbert and be evidently displayed in their interactions within their homes, neighborhoods, and workplaces. The recipient of this award will be chosen by the number of nominations received. In the case of a tie, the alumni association will break the tie.
St. Francis Award for Community Service
This award goes out to a Hilbert alumna/us who has distinguished themselves by their vast contributions of time and talent to their respective community over the course of many years of service. The recipient could be considered a role model for other Hilbert graduates – past, present and future, for their dedication to improving their community and those they serve. The recipient will be selected by the Alumni Association from nominations recommended by fellow alumni, faculty, and Alumni Association board members.
Hilbert College Franciscan Values Award (non-alum)
This award was established to recognize a friend of Hilbert College who exemplifies the principles on which the College was founded and who has distinguished him/herself in career and community. Each of Hilbert’s Franciscan Core Values; Hope, Peace, Joy, Integrity, Vision, Respect, Service, and Compassion should describe the recipient’s character. The recipient will be selected by the Alumni Association from nominations recommended by fellow alumni, faculty, and Alumni Association board members.
G.O.L.D. (Graduates of the Last Decade) Award
This award is presented to Hilbert graduates of the last decade who have achieved career success and demonstrated significant volunteer service to their communities and/or Hilbert College. The recipient will be selected by the Alumni Association from nominations recommended by fellow alumni, faculty, and Alumni Association board members.
St. Clare Student of the Year Award
This award is presented to a current student who has distinguished him or herself at Hilbert College as well as in the community in which they reside. This student should be an exemplar of the Franciscan mission and tradition of Hilbert by displaying the college’s core values on a daily basis, in all that he or she does. In addition to his or her involvement in the classroom and with other activities on campus, this student should also be involved off campus in a capacity where he or she is actively serving the local community.
