2013 AMCC Softball All-Conference Team
PITTSBURGH, PA – Hilbert College’s Natalie Whitman was named as a 2013 Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) All-Conference member. Whitman landed on the Third Team as a 1st baseman for the 8-20 Hawks.
Mary Kate Bongiovanni (Medaille) was selected as the Player of the Year, Sydney Mosby (Pitt-Bradford) as the Pitcher of the Year and Mackenzie Kehlenbeck (D’Youville) as the Newcomer of the Year. Pitt-Bradford’s Tina Martin earned her second AMCC Coach of the Year award.
Whitman finished the season with 28 hits, hitting a team-best 6 doubles, while driving in 10 runs and personally crossing home plate 14 times while hitting .359. The 5’11 first baseman used her length to stretch out for 102 put-outs during the season. She covered the highest number of bases (37) for the Hawks and was credited with three steals during the 2013 season. Whitman also stepped inside the circle on a few occasions. She carried the Hawks through 19 innings, striking out 13 while giving up 28 hits.
This selection marks the second honor Whitman received for softball this spring. Previously she was named as the Player of the Week (April 8).
Whitman also became the first Hilbert student-athlete to be named to an AMCC All-Conference team in multiple sports in the same academic year.
Hilbert finished in 8th place out of the ten league teams, sporting a 6-12 record. The Hawks swept Penn State Behrend for the program’s first double head victory over the Lions since Hilbert joined the AMCC in 2004-05.
