Steubenville, OH –Hannah Flanagan shot fifty percent from long distance (5-10) leading Franciscan University to a 55-35 victory over Hilbert College in women’s basketball February 5. Hilbert’s Amber Grosch (Depew, NY/Depew) scored one-third of the Hawks points (10) in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference loss. Senior Amanda Dudek (Tonawanda, NY/Tonawanda) chipped in 8 points and grabbed a team-high 7 rebounds and 3 steals.
Franciscan (2-12, 2-16) held a 27-12 half time advantage and extended their lead to twenty-four at 4:15 left off a Flanagan three-pointer. The Hawks outscored the Barons in the paint and in points off turnovers. But the home team dominated the boards (49-26) and finished the game with better shooting percentages giving them the advantage in the scoring column.
Hilbert (0-14, 1-19) looks to grab a road win at D’Youville College February 9 when they travel to the west-side of Buffalo for a 6pm tip. The Spartans (4-10, 5-16) captured the first meeting in early January in the Hafner Center and have gone 1-6 since that first meeting.
