Hilbert Baseball Team Falls to U of R, LEC

Painesville, Ohio – The Hilbert College baseball team dropped four games over the weekend with doubleheader road losses Friday at the University of Rochester, and another pair of losses Sunday at Lake Erie College.
Dustin Riker (Frontier/Blasdell, NY) pitched two innings while taking the 7-2 loss in game one against U of R. The Hawks mustered only four hits led by Glen Ufland’s (Bishop Timon/Buffalo, NY) double in the fourth inning while committing five errors on defense.
Game two saw the host Yellow Jackets score all 12 of their runs over the course of the first four innings on their way to the 12-0 shutout. U of R pounded out 16 hits to Hilbert’s one as Brendan Mullen (Oakfield-Alabama/Oakfield, NY) suffered his second loss of the year for the Hawks on the mound.

In game two Sunday, the Hawks trailed 3-0 before scoring in the third to cut the Storm lead to two. LEC scored two runs in the fifth and two more in the sixth to secure the 7-1 win. Storm pitcher Jimmy Knight threw a complete game striking out 12 batters while allowing only four hits on the day.
