HAMBURG, NY - Alfred University (1-2) defeated Hilbert College (0-2) by a score of 71-60 in a non-conference men's basketball game Tuesday night at the Hafner Recreation Center.
Leading 33-27 at the intermission, the visiting Saxons knocked down 11 trifectas on the night, with senior guard Chris Lemasters leading the way with 22 points. The Hawks cold shooting would lead to their demise as they shot only 38% for the game and 16% behind the arc, connecting on only four of 24 attempts.
Junior transfer Corey Vander Sluis (Syracuse, NY/ West Genesee) led the host Hawks with 14 points, four rebounds, and two blocks. Freshman Rocco DiJohn (Scotia, NY/Scotia-Glenville) chipped in with 10 points, while junior Glenn Ufland (Buffalo, NY/Bishop Timon) had five steals.
Hilbert College hits the road next Tuesday, November 29th as they take on the Storm of Keuka College in a 7:00 pm tip-off.
