AURORA, NY – Dan Russell (Marilla, NY/Iroquois) and Gary Cummings (Lancaster, NY/Lancaaster) each scored a pair of goals and added assists in Hilbert College’s 4-1 men’s soccer victory over Wells College Thursday. The non-conference win improves the Hawks to 3-5 while the Express drop to 0-8 on the season.
Hilbert goalie Adam Eaton (Sardinia, NY/Pioneer) earned his second win of the season and recorded five saves on the day. Kirk Love (Hamburg, NY/Frontier) and Matt Begeal (Northville, NY/Wells) picked up assists for the Hawks who led 2-0 at the half.
Mike Miller’s goal at 51:56 prevented the shutout and keeper Matt Birklin stopped six shots in a losing effort to lead the Express.
The Hawks open up Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) play this weekend when they play host to Penn State Altoona in a 1:00 pm contest on Saturday.
