Whelan named NECVA West POTW

JERSEY CITY, NJ – Hilbert College senior Luke Whelan (Angola, NY/Lake Shore) has been named North East Collegiate Volleyball Association (NECVA) Western Division Player of the Week for the week ending March 2nd.

Despite a 0-3 weekend for the Hawks, Whelan registered 24 kills, 13 digs, and seven solo blocks in matches against Villa Julie College, New Jersey City University, and King College. The 6’2 middle blocker also turned in two aces and two block assists.

Hilbert will look to get back on the winning track Wednesday night at conference and local foe D’Youville College. Start time against the Spartans is scheduled for 7:00 pm.
