HAMBURG, NY – Catie Reed’s game winning goal with 1:05 to play in double overtime lifted the Clarkson University women’s soccer team to a 1-0 win over the Hilbert College Hawks on Saturday. Reed’s goal ended a defensive battle that lasted 108:55 and helped the visiting Golden Knight’s improve to 4-2 on the year.
Hilbert (4-2) managed only three shots on Clarkson keeper Meagan Emlaw who earned the shutout win. Hawks leading scorer Tricia Knight (Arcade, NY/Pioneer) was kept in check throughout the afternoon as a stiff Clarkson defense limited the junior to just two shots on goal.
Hawks keeper Kelly Goodwin (Niagara Falls, NY/Niagara Falls) turned in a solid performance between the pipes with the sophomore recording 10 saves in a losing effort.
Hilbert opens Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) play next Saturday with Penn State Altoona coming to Hamburg for a 1:00 pm kickoff.
