Express Stops Hawks

The Hilbert College softball team dropped a double header to Wells College by scores of 8-7 and 18-9, on April 9, 2009. The Hawk’s record falls to 4-15 overall.
In game 1, The Hawks went to the sixth inning trailing, 8-6 and managed to cut the lead to 8-7 on a an RBI single from junior Carrie Sisson (Elma, NY/ Mt. Mercy) that scored Sara Collins (Milroy, PA/Indian Valley).
The Hawks could not muster another tally and would ultimately fall 8-7. Halsey Baker led the Hawk’s offense, going 3-4 at the plate and driving in two runs.
In game 2, the Hawks led 9-8 through 3.5 innings, but a 10 run third inning for the Express, broke the game wide open, and pushed Wells past Hilbert.
Collins was 2-4 with two RBIs and two runs scored. Baker went 3-3 at the dish in the second frame, and also knocked in a run.
The Hawks return to action April 11 at Frostburg State University.
