Cross Country Teams Still Running

Six athletes to run in Regional Race

HAMBURG, NY – The Hilbert College men’s and women’s cross country programs will be sending six runners to participate in the NCAA Division III Atlantic Regional Cross Country Championship on Saturday, November 14. Head coach Jerry Mangan is proudly leading this group of runners to Letchworth State Park for the race; it has been five years since any runner from Hilbert participated in a post-season competition.

 
Sophomore Amanda Trickey (Clifton Springs, NY/Canandaigua) will be running in her second 6K race of the year on Saturday. She is returning to action after sitting out eight weeks to rest the stress fracture in her foot. Her only other race was the Alleghany Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) championship race on October 31 with her finishing time of 34:43 in the 6K.
 
Sophomore Paul Coleman (Buffalo, NY/Cardinal O’Hara), freshman Robert Minkel (Hamburg, NY/Hamburg), freshman Jeff Gauthier (Buffalo, NY/Bishop Timon-St. Jude), freshman Aaron Lawrence (Fishkill, NY/Fishkill, Erie Community College), and freshman Pat Lagueras (Rochester, NY/Charles Finney) will be involved in the 8K race and looking to improve their personal bests: Minkel’s 29:45.46 (Oct. 17 at CCOC), Gauthier’s 34:45.41 (Oct. 17 at CCOC), Lawrence’s 34:36.28 (Oct. 17 at CCOC), and Lagueras personal best time was at the AMCC championship (Oct. 31) with a time of 43:35.4.
 
“All these athletes have been very dedicated to improve their times this fall, even after the AMCC race. I’m thrilled to know they have found running enjoyable and that they want to continue their season,” said Coach Mangan.
