MYRTLE BEACH, SC – On the last day of play in South Carolina, the Hilbert College women’s softball team suffered a 10-6 loss to Kellogg Community College. The Hawks are excited to return home to warm, sunny Western New York weather and begin their Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference league play.
Devan Jonathan took the loss giving up five hits while striking two batters out in the four innings pitched for Hilbert. Emily Ripley continued with two strikeouts of her own and surrendered five hits in the last three innings.
Offensively, the Hawks were led by Natalie Whitman’s two doubles and Kateland Ball’s two RBIs with 1 double-bagger. Senior Halsey Baker finished with three RBIs for the game.
With the weather channel forecasting temperatures in the low 60’s all week, the Hawks will be able to pick right up where they left off down south and continue to improve on their outdoor skills now that they don’t have to practice indoors. Hilbert will travel to Mount Aloysius March 24 for their first AMCC contest of the 2012 season.
