Human Resources

The Human Resources Department creates a warm and caring atmosphere where employees feel welcome. We support the College Mission and embrace the growth of a diverse environment.
 
The HR Department administers policies and procedures relating to staffing and selection, benefit administration, performance management and employee programs. We serve faculty and staff by providing accurate and timely information on a variety of workplace related issues in a friendly and respectful manner.

Medical and Dental Insurance

Our comprehensive medical and dental benefits offer cost effective, high-quality care to our full-time employees.  Medical insurance is offered through Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield, the leading consumer health care brand  in the country.   Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield is accepted by over 90 % of doctors, hospitals, and specialists, opening doors in all 50 states, and recognized in over 200 countries worldwide.[1]

Pre-tax flexible spending accounts and health savings accounts are available to help employees manage out-of-pocket medical costs. 

Disability/Life Insurance/AD&D

Income replacement benefits are available to eligible employees for short and long term disability.  The College also provides fully paid basic life and Accidental Death & Dismemberment with the option for the employee to purchase additional coverage for themselves and their dependents.

Retirement Plan

Hilbert College provides eligible employees with the opportunity to save for retirement on a pre-tax basis through 403(b) plans with the Teachers Insurance and Annuity Association ("TIAA”).  The College contribution to the employee’s retirement account begins at 5% of the employee’s base salary and increases based on years of service.

Tuition Waiver and Exchange Program

Waiver for Undergraduate and Graduate Tuition at Hilbert College & Hilbert College Global:  a full-time employee, their spouse and dependent children may apply for a full tuition waiver.   A part-time employee, their spouse and dependent children may apply for a partial tuition waiver.   This benefit is applicable to the first academic semester after the date of hire.

Franciscan Services Tuition Waiver for Hilbert College and Valley College:  The following may apply for tuition waivers to study at Hilbert College, Hilbert College Global and Valley College.

  • Hilbert College, Hilbert College Global and Valley College full-time employees, their spouses, and their dependents are eligible for the first available class start date after the qualified individuals hire date.
  • Part-time employees are eligible for one course per semester at Hilbert College or part-time employees who work 20 hours or more per week can enroll in Valley College programs. Both are eligible for the first available start date after the qualified individuals hire date.
  • Valley College Adjunct Instructors, their spouses, and dependents are eligible after one year of continuous contracted services with Valley College.
  • Employees of preferred contracted services partners (i.e., Elbers, Ellucian, Follett, Hallmark, and Quest) at Hilbert College eligible after one year of continuous contracted services with Hilbert College.

These tuition waivers cover tuition only.  All other cost/fees are the responsibility of the registered student.

Tuition Exchange:  Hilbert College participates in three Tuition Exchange programs that allow the dependents of eligible employees to apply to receive a tuition scholarship for up to full payment of tuition.  These programs are as follows:

  • Tuition Exchange (TE) www.tuitionexchange.org
  • The Catholic College Cooperative Tuition Exchange (CCCTE) http://www.cccte.org/
  • The Council of Independent Colleges Tuition Exchange Program (CIC-TEP) www.cic.edu 

Work Life Balance

Paid Time Off

Hilbert College provides eligible employees a generous amount of paid vacation time to encourage a healthy work/life balance.  Sick and personal time is also provided to allow eligible employees to attend to medical appointments, illness or other personal needs.

Holidays

Hilbert College provides 13 paid holidays to its employees during the year. The College also provides paid leave between Christmas and New Year’s Day.  The list of holidays is subject to annual review.

Additional Benefits

Confidential Employee Assistance Program (EAP) provides support and guidance on a variety of personal and work/life issues.

Employees may also purchase accident insurance, cancer care, hospital confinement indemnity insurance, and other supplemental insurance plans through our partner, Aflac.
