He went into Hilbert College as a Criminal Justice major, but life seemed to have a different journey in store for him. In his sophomore year, he met Steadicam Operator and Hilbert alum, Tom Wills. This friendship sparked Gus’ interest in filming and editing music videos. He began to learn the basics of video production under the guidance of Tom, which propelled him to higher levels in his career. His motivation was fueled by the unwavering support from those rooting for him.
Soon enough, Gus' ambitions propelled him to Los Angeles, California—an unexpected yet essential shift into another phase full of unexpected adventures in storytelling. His unique narrative style caught widespread attention rapidly leading top-tier directing and producing opportunities across America knocking on his door.
He has successfully produced and directed compelling features/series for renowned entities including NBC, Amazon Prime Thursday Night Football, Uninterrupted: Lebron James’ “The Shop”, WWE, NFL 360 and NFL Network. In 2023, he won his first Emmy Award for his cinematography work on “NFL 360 Presents: The Indelible Legacy of Jimmy Raye.” Gus’ achievements are remarkable reflections not only of his raw talent, but also the respect he commands in his field.
