Step 1: Submit Your Enrollment Deposit
All students who plan to attend Hilbert must accept their admissions offer by submitting an enrollment deposit as soon as possible. Students who deposit early on will receive priority registration and preferred housing (resident students only)!

Refer to your acceptance letter for information regarding deposit deadlines. An Admissions Counselor will contact you to explain any additional actions necessary.
Per our Housing Contract, all international students whose parents or legal guardian’s permanent home address is more than 35 miles away must live on campus for a minimum of 3 years.
Step 2: Complete Your CSS Profile
The CSS Profile is an online form for all degree-seeking international students to complete. It’s a simple way to let schools know about your academic and financial background. It’s also a great way to get in touch with schools that might be interested in you.
Exchange students from partner universities do not have to complete the CSS profile. Hilbert College does not provide a fee waiver for the CSS profile. Our CSS profile code is 2334.
Step 3: Complete the I-20
The I-20 application is required to come to the United States as a student and to obtain a student visa.
- Obtain a copy of passport
- Provide proof of financial stability. This can be in the form of scholarships, personal funds, sponsorship, liquid assets, etc. If you are being sponsored, you and your sponsor(s) must complete the Sponsorship Form.

- By signing this form, you are acknowledging your ability to fund your education here at Hilbert College. If your sponsor can no longer support you, you must contact the PDSO within 30 days and provide new proof of financial stability.

- Log in to your Hilbert account and fill out the I-20 Application. Once you have received your official I-20 from the PDSO, you will need to print the I-20 out and sign and date it.
- You will then create a SEVIS account and pay the I-901 SEVIS fee ($350). Keep the I-901 fee receipt for the visa interview (when applicable).
Step 4: Health Forms
All health forms must be in English and legible.
Please read through the following list carefully and be sure to submit all required documentation as early as possible. If these medical forms are not completed by your arrival, you will not be allowed to move to campus. It is your sole responsibility to obtain these records, vaccinations, and health insurance.
All forms are due by August 1st for the fall semester and January 1st for the spring semester.
List of requirements
- Proof of health insurance. We recommend international students to use iNext insurance.
- Proof of vaccinations with dates administered:
- Two doses of the meningococcal meningitis vaccination within 5 years of coming to Hilbert.
- Two doses of the Mumps, Measles, Rubella vaccine.
- Physical examination (PDF) within 12 months (submit in PDF format)
- If you are participating in a sport, please refer to our athletics page and your coach.
Step 4 Health Forms
Submit Medical & Contact Forms (Mandatory)
Please read through the following links carefully and be sure to submit ALL required documentation as early as possible. All forms are due by August 1st for Fall and January 1st for the spring semesters.
Health Insurance is required and mandatory for all international students and they are required to show proof of personal health insurance prior to moving into the residence halls.

Students will not be allowed to move in to their residence hall until they have submitted all required health forms.

Step 5: Apply for F-1 Visa
Find My Embassy
You need to complete DS-160 form (Online Nonimmigrant Visa Application) and take a photo that meets the requirements and then schedule a visa interview at a US embassy or consulate. Find out more at the Bureau of Consular Affairs.
Hilbert’s school code is BUF214F00454000 and can be found on the I-20 in the School information Section.
Canadian students do not require a visa, but must present a valid Form I-20 at the time of admission.
Step 6: Register for Classes
Degree-Seeking Students
Students that submit their enrollment deposit early will receive priority registration.
New students that have accepted their admissions offer by depositing will be contacted to schedule their registration appointment, based on the date of their deposit.
- Fall Entry Term: Deposited students will be contacted as early as March 31st to schedule their new student advisement appointment.
- Spring Entry Term: Deposited students will be contacted as early as November 15th to schedule their new student advisement appointment.

Exchange Students
When you are preparing to study abroad, it is important to work closely with your designated school official (PDSO) who is responsible for handling the administrative tasks related to your travel and stay. One of the key aspects of studying abroad is curating your schedule. This involves selecting the courses you will be taking in a foreign country and ensuring that they align with your academic goals and requirements.
