Tim Seil

Tim Seil was appointed Director of Athletics at Hilbert College on December 15, 2021, and was promoted to Associate Vice President of Student Life and Director of Athletics in May 2025. Since his arrival, Seil has provided strategic leadership for the institution’s intercollegiate athletics program, overseeing significant departmental growth, facility enhancements, branding initiatives, conference affiliations, and competitive success across the athletics department.

 

During his tenure at Hilbert, Seil has overseen the addition of two new athletic programs, Football and Women’s Ice Hockey. These additions have helped grow Hilbert Athletics to more than 300 student-athletes. Under his leadership, Hilbert Football was accepted as a member of the Empire 8 Conference in 2024 before transitioning to the Liberty League in 2025. Additionally, the Women’s Ice Hockey began competition in the United Collegiate Hockey Conference (UCHC) during the 2025-26 season.

 

Seil has led several transformational initiatives within the department, including the redesign of the Hilbert Athletics logo and visual identity, as well as the rebranding of the Hafner Recreation Center. He has also overseen significant staffing growth and has successfully hired head coaches for Football, Women’s Basketball, Women’s Ice Hockey, Women’s Lacrosse, Men’s Soccer, Women’s Soccer, Men’s Lacrosse, Men’s Volleyball, Women’s Volleyball, Bowling, and Men’s and Women’s Golf.

 

Under Seil’s leadership, Hilbert Athletics has continued to achieve success both academically and competitively. The department has produced numerous conference honorees, academic award recipients, and postseason qualifiers, while continuing to strengthen its commitment to student-athlete success in the classroom and in competition. During the 2025-26 academic year, Hilbert student-athletes earned a number of conference, regional, and national recognitions, further demonstrating the department’s continued growth and success. Hilbert placed 59.6% of its student athletes on AMCC Academic All-Conference Teams (student-athletes must have a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher from the fall 2025 semester to earn academic all-conference honors), which was third-best in the AMCC.

 

In May 2025, Seil was appointed to the NCAA Baseball Rules Committee, representing Division III institutions and contributing to the governance and future direction of collegiate baseball.

 

Prior to Hilbert, Seil served as Assistant Director of Athletic Facilities at Canisius University. In that role, he managed the daily operations of the Koessler Athletic Center and coordinated game-day operations for all 20 varsity athletic programs. He also oversaw 18 club sport teams and the university’s intramural program while serving as Deputy Title IX Coordinator. Before his work in facilities management, Seil directed academic support services for student-athletes at Canisius, collaborating with departments and support services across campus to promote student success.

 

Prior to Canisius, Seil served as an Academic Coordinator at the Georgia Institute of Technology. He also worked as a graduate assistant at Canisius and as an assistant baseball coach at Medaille College. In addition, Seil is a certified high school and collegiate basketball official, has serves as an adjunct professor at Canisius, and was Major League Baseball’s Game Day Compliance Monitor during the 2021 season when the Toronto Blue Jays played home games at Sahlen Field in Buffalo.

 

Seil earned both his bachelor’s degree in Health and Physical Education and his master’s degree in Sport Administration from Canisius University, where he was a Division I baseball student-athlete for the Golden Griffins.

 

Seil and his wife, Katie, reside in Buffalo, New York, with their son, Nolan, and daughter, Avery.
