Land Acknowledgment
Land Acknowledgement Statement
Hilbert College acknowledges that it is located on the traditional land of the Seneca people. We strive to respect Indigenous people past, present, and emerging. We affirm our unwavering appreciation for the traditional perspectives and teachings about Mother Earth held among many Indigenous peoples, nations, and tribes.
We acknowledge that violence, genocide, displacement, migration, and resettlement have harmed Indigenous lifeways. Our Franciscan heritage calls us to live in solidarity with those who have suffered systemic and individual injustices and to value all forms of diversity and inclusion.
We pledge to honor and support the traditions of Native students and communities by creating educational initiatives that nurture, empower and strengthen relationships with all living beings and the natural world.
