Scholarships

Hilbert College offers several scholarships made possible through generous donations from alumni and friends of the college who value a Hilbert College education. 

Scholarship eligibility is based on specific criteria which includes; academic merit, enrollment status, financial need, field of study, or a combination of criteria. 

The deadline to apply is December 13, 2021 for returning students. The deadline to apply for first time in college students is April 1, 2022.




Non-Endowed Scholarships

George Thomas Scholarship

Candidates for this scholarship must be majoring in undergraduate English, enrolled full-time, in good academic standing, and have a FAFSA form on file demonstrating financial need.   Not renewable.

John P. ORourke Scholarship

This scholarship is awarded to an undergraduate student who graduated from a Catholic high school in the Diocese of Buffalo and a resident of the City of Buffalo.

Key Bank Scholarship

This scholarship is awarded to undergraduate students attending full-time or part-time and have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher. Candidates must be a permanent resident of NYS and have a history of community involvement.  Not renewable.

Vincent & Harriet Palisano Foundation Scholarship

This scholarship is awarded to an undergraduate student demonstrating financial need.

Virginia Weiss Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship is awarded to an undergraduate student demonstrating financial need.

    This scholarship is awarded to a Hilbert college student who is in good academic standing and has a FAFSA on file showing financial need. Not renewable.

    Barbara Wicks/Hamburg Women’s Democratic Club Scholarship

    Undergraduate candidates must be female resident of the Town of Hamburg, has a FAFSA on file demonstrating financial need, and who has returned to school later in life and mixes a home life with the goal of earning a degree. All candidates must be registered for a minimum of 6 credits.  Not renewable.

    Bernard J. Olszewski Scholarship

    This scholarship is for full time students majoring in undergraduate Criminal Justice and has a FAFSA on file which demonstrates financial need.  Not renewable.

    Biddle Family Scholarship

    Candidates for this scholarship must be female, undergraduate, attending full-time, and have a FAFSA on file which demonstrates financial need.  Not renewable.

    Boyd and Joan McGowan Scholarship

    Candidates for this scholarship must be majoring in Liberal Studies, attending full-time, in good academic standing, from a middle-income family and a FAFSA on file demonstrating financial need.  Not renewable.

    Cameron Baird Scholarship

    This scholarship is for non-traditional female, full-time student, residing in the Southtowns area of Western New York.   A FAFSA must be on file demonstrating financial need.  Not renewable.

    Colleen Ryan-Rath Scholarship

    Candidates for this scholarship must be upper class Criminal Justice major, with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher who exudes a strong work ethic by concurrently balancing academics with part-time employment.   Not renewable

    Daniel Mikac Military Aligned Scholarship

    This scholarship is awarded to a military aligned student demonstrating financial need.  (i.e. veteran, veteran’s spouse, veteran’s dependent)

    David S. Kielar Memorial Scholarship

    This scholarship is for undergraduate students majoring in Business Administration, in good academic standing, with a FAFSA on file which demonstrates financial need. Preference will be given to those of Polish-American heritage and/or a large family.  Not renewable.

    David G. Lanfear Scholarship

    This scholarship is for an incoming undergrad student, attending full-time, who may be a veteran. Candidate should be active on campus and/or in the community. Scholarship is renewable with a cumulative GPA of 3.0. Renewing each subsequent year until the recipient graduates (undergraduate) from Hilbert College.

    Dick Fischer scholarship

    This scholarship is awarded to a student who is in good academic standing and has a FAFSA on file showing financial need. Not renewable.

    Dommer Family Scholarship

    Candidates for this scholarship must be a freshman student from Western New York, who demonstrates involvement in community service and serves in a leadership role while attending Hilbert College.  Scholarship renews for four years as long as the recipient maintains a GPA of 3.0 or higher, and meets the scholarship requirements.

    Doris and Robert Drago Scholarship

    This scholarship is for sophomore students, first-generation college attendance who are enrolled fulltime and belonging to Enactus, or SGA (Student Government Association). Scholarship renews with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 until the student completes their undergraduate degree at Hilbert College.

    Dr. Edward B. Hein Memorial Fund

    Candidates for this scholarship must be sophomore or junior, majoring in Human Services, with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.  FAFSA must be on file and demonstrating financial need.

    Dr. and Mrs. Robert Pantera Scholarship

    This scholarship is awarded to undergraduate students of Polish heritage, attending full-time, and have a FAFSA on file and has financial need.  Not renewable.

    Edmund and Edna Paczesny Family Scholarship

    This scholarship is awarded to an undergraduate student majoring in Liberal Arts, who comes from a middle income family, enrolled full-time, in good academic standing, and has a FAFSA form on file and demonstrates financial need.  Not renewable.

    Edward J.P. Drabczyk Memorial Scholarship

    This scholarship is awarded to a criminal justice student in good academic standing.

    Edward and Harriet Reska Scholarship

    This scholarship is for an undergraduate student enrolled full-time, in good academic standing, and of Polish heritage.  Not renewable.

    Elizabeth Prezyna Scholarship

    Candidates for This scholarship must be female, enrolled full-time in a Bachelor’s degree program in Business Administration or Accounting. Student must demonstrate leadership characteristics. Not renewable.

    Empire of America Scholarship

    This scholarship is awarded to a student who has a FAFSA on file showing financial need and is in good academic standing. Not renewable.

    Enactus Scholarship

    Candidates for This scholarship must be a member of Enactus.

    Endowed Memorial Scholarship

    This scholarship is awarded to a student who has a FAFSA on file demonstrating financial need and a GPA of 2.0 or higher.

    First Niagara Scholarship

    This scholarship is awarded to a first generation student matriculating to Hilbert College from a high school located in the City of Buffalo. Student must be attending full-time, undergrad, be in good academic standing, and have a FAFSA on file demonstrating financial need.  Not renewable.

    Flood-Qualey Family Scholarship

    Candidates for this scholarship must be majoring in undergraduate Criminal Justice, enrolled full-time, in good academic standing, and have a FAFSA form on file demonstrating financial need.   Not renewable.

    Florence Hafner Emmert and Cecilia Hafner Scholarship

    This scholarship is for a new incoming undergrad student, attending full-time, with a FAFSA on file demonstrating financial need. Scholarship is renewable for a second year providing the recipient maintains a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher.

    Frank J. and Isabel C. Buczek Scholarship

    This scholarship is for students enrolled full-time in the undergraduate Criminal Justice program, good academic standing, and have a FAFSA on file demonstrating financial need.   Not renewable.

    Frank Family Memorial Fund

    This scholarship is awarded to a student in good academic standing who has a FAFSA on file demonstrating financial need.

    Frank J. Giambra Scholarship

    This scholarship is awarded to a student maintaining a 2.0 GPA and has a FAFSA on file demonstrating financial need.

    This scholarship is for candidates attending full-time, undergraduate, from a diverse background, with a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher, FAFSA on file demonstrating financial need.  Not renewable.

    Candidates must be attending full-time, first or second year undergraduate at Hilbert College, with a FAFSA on file showing financial need.  Not renewable.

    Heraty Family Scholarship

    Candidates for This scholarship must be first-generation student, with a FAFSA on file demonstrating financial need.  Student must be attending full-time and majoring in Business Administration. Renewable for the duration of the recipient’s enrollment as long as they meet the qualifications and remain in good academic standing.

    Hilbert College Staff Senate Scholarship

    This scholarship is for full-time, undergraduate candidates who have a FAFSA on file demonstrating financial need. Not renewable.

    HSBC Bank Scholarship

    This scholarship is awarded to full-time, undergraduate students majoring in Accounting or Business and have filed a FAFSA and demonstrate financial need. Candidates must be in good academic standing. Not renewable.

    Candidates for this scholarship must be full-time, undergraduate, majoring in Human Services or Rehabilitation Services and demonstrate financial need by filing a FAFSA.  Not renewable.

    Jason C. Luna Scholarship

    This scholarship is awarded to undergraduate students majoring in Criminal Justice and demonstrating financial need via a completed FAFSA. Candidates must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher, and actively participate in a club on campus.  Not renewable.

    Joanne Miller Zane Fund

    Candidates for This scholarship must be undergraduate, attending full-time and be a first generation female student.  Not renewable.

    Jocelyn R. Hughes Scholarship

    Candidates must be incoming freshman, with a FAFSA on file demonstrating financial need. Must be in good academic standing to receive second disbursement.  Not renewable.

    Johengen Family Scholarship

    This scholarship is awarded to a student who is in good academic standing and has a FAFSA on file demonstrating financial need.

    John F. Kissel Scholarship

    Candidates for this scholarship are resident students with a FAFSA on file demonstrating financial need and maintains satisfactory academic progress (cumulative GPA of 2.0).

    John W. Kissel Leadership Scholarship

    This scholarship is awarded to students who have been chosen for the leadership award.

    Joseph and Lottie Walas Scholarship

    This scholarship is awarded to undergraduate student, attending full time, and majoring in Business. Candidates must have a FAFSA on file demonstrating financial need.  Not renewable.

    Josephine Goodyear Foundation Scholarship

    Candidates for This scholarship must be undergraduate, attending full-time, adult female, with a FAFSA on file demonstrating financial need.  Cumulative GPA must be 2.0 or higher.  Not renewable.

    Full-time, undergraduate, adult candidate, maintaining satisfactory academic progress with a FAFSA on file demonstrating financial need. Not renewable.

    Lawley Family Scholarship

    Candidates for This scholarship must be full-time Hilbert student, with a cumulative GPA of 27.5 or higher, and have a FAFSA on file and demonstrate financial need.  Not renewable.

    Leo and Stella Kamykowski Scholarship

    This scholarship is awarded to a student with a FAFSA on file demonstrating financial need.

    Leonard Kieffer Family Scholarship

    This scholarship is awarded to a student maintaining average grades and has a FAFSA on file demonstrating financial need.

    Leanne, Ronnie, Joseph and Larissa Manzi Scholarship

    This scholarship recipient is someone who utilizes the Academic Resource Center at Hilbert College, has a FAFSA on file demonstrating financial need. Candidate must be in good academic standing.  Not renewable.

    Magdeline and John Hayman Scholarship

    This scholarship is awarded to candidates from middle income family demonstrating financial need, enrolled in any degree program, and meeting satisfactory academic progress. Candidates must show a commitment to service to their community, church and/or school. Scholarship is renewable provided recipient maintains a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher.  

    Mary Hobar Memorial Scholarship

    This scholarship is awarded to sophomore, junior or senior students majoring in Forensic Science/Crime Scene Investigation. Not renewable.

    Meghan Sorbera Scholarship

    Candidates must be a first generation undergraduate student enrolled full time and have a FAFSA on file demonstrating financial need.  Not renewable.

    MT Gacioch Fund

    This scholarship is awarded to an incoming freshman who has demonstrated outstanding community service during their high school years and actively demonstrates Franciscan values. Student must continue with community service during their enrollment at Hilbert College by volunteering or being a member of a college club or community group to renew the scholarship. Cumulative GPA of 2.0 required.  Scholarship renews up to 4 years.

    M & T Scholarship

    This scholarship is awarded to a student with a FAFSA on file demonstrating financial need.

    M & T Leadership Scholarship

    This scholarship is awarded to students who have demonstrated leadership capabilities. 

    Mary Falletta and Michael Graci Memorial Scholarship

    This scholarship is awarded to a student from a middle-income family, in good academic standing and who has a FAFSA on file demonstrating financial need.

    This scholarship is awarded to a student with a FASFA and file demonstrating financial need.

    National Fuel Gas Scholarship

    This scholarship is awarded to full-time undergraduate student in good academic standing, demonstrating financial need, majoring in Math, Science, Information Technology or Engineering. Not renewable.

    New York State Federation Home Bureau Scholarship- Buffalo and Erie County

    This scholarship is awarded to full-time student majoring in CSIA (Computer Security and Information Assurance). In the event there are no such eligible applicants majoring in CSIA, the committee shall select an applicant majoring in human Services who maintains a cumulative GPA of 2.8 or higher. Candidates must reside in one of the following counties: Erie, Cattaraugus, Cayuga, Chautauqua, Chemung, Chenango, Clinton, Dutchess, Franklin, Herkimer, Jefferson, Monroe, Niagara, Oswego, Rensselaer, Schenectady, St. Lawrence, Steuben, Tompkins, Wyoming, or Yates. Candidates must have a FAFSA on file and demonstrate financial need. Candidates must be in at least sophomore status, U.S. citizens. Not renewable.

    Nicholas F. Jonmarie Memorial Scholarship

    This scholarship is awarded to full-time undergraduate students majoring in Forensic Science/Crime Scene Investigation. FAFSA form must be on file and demonstrating financial need. Not renewable.

    This is a full scholarship. Candidates must be full-time, undergraduate, sophomore, junior, or senior, with a FAFSA on file demonstrating financial need, and having earned high academic achievement at Hilbert College.

    Candidates for this scholarship must be full-time undergraduate, in good academic standing, who has shown concern for his/her fellow beings through service in community, school, or church. FAFSA form must be on file and student has financial need.  Not renewable.

    Ren Poynton Scholarship

    This scholarship is awarded to a student with the FASFA on file demonstrating financial need.

    Richard and Evelyn M. Naughton Scholarship

    This scholarship is awarded to a student with a FAFSA on file demonstrating financial need. 

    Richard M. Craig Memorial Scholarship

    This scholarship is awarded to a student with a FAFSA on file demonstrating financial need. 

    Roger and Diana Weiss Scholarship

    This scholarship is awarded to a student from a middle-income family, in good academic standing and has a FASFA on file demonstrating financial need.

    St. John Neumann Scholarship

    This scholarship is for a full-time or part-time student who upholds the Franciscan values in their daily life. Candidates must demonstrate financial need by having a FAFSA form on file and a cumulative high school or college GPA of 2.5 or higher.  Not renewable.

    Sgt. Martin F. Bogdanowicz Memorial Scholarship

    Candidates for this scholarship must be a veteran or member of his/her family. Candidates must have a FAFSA form on file and show financial need.   Not renewable.

    Shane Heltz Memorial Fund

    This scholarship is awarded to a full-time student, with a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher, who is at least a sophomore who demonstrates passion, teamwork, and enthusiasm as Shane Heltz did.  Not renewable.

    Sister Adrian Rapnicki Memorial Scholarship

    This scholarship is awarded to a student with a FAFSA on file demonstrating financial need. 

    Sister Mary Edwina Bogel Scholarship

    This scholarship is awarded to a full-time, female student, who demonstrates strong academic potential to persist to completion of her undergraduate degree.   Not renewable.

    Stanley P. Szymanski Scholarship

    Candidates must be undergraduate student, enrolled full-time, cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher, Polish heritage, and have a FAFSA on file demonstrating financial need.  Not renewable.

    Sturm Family Scholarship

    This scholarship is awarded to full-time student in their junior or senior year who is involved in leadership roles and activities on and off campus. Candidates must have a FAFSA on file and demonstrating financial need.  Not renewable.
