HAMBURG, NY — Hilbert College today announced that Tim Seil, currently Associate Vice President for Student Life and Director of Athletics, will serve as the institution’s Vice President for Student Life and Athletics, effective September 17, 2026.

Seil has served Hilbert College since January 2022, when he was appointed Director of Athletics. He was promoted to Associate Vice President for Student Life and Director of Athletics in May 2025. In his expanded role, Seil will provide leadership across student life and intercollegiate athletics, supporting Hilbert’s continued commitment to student success, engagement, development, and the overall student experience.

“Tim has done far more than build an athletics department — he has helped build momentum across the entire institution,” said Mike Cornell, Interim President of Hilbert College. “He has a clear vision for where Hilbert is going, the ability to bring people together around that vision, and, most importantly, an unwavering commitment to our students. This appointment recognizes the leadership Tim has already demonstrated and positions him to have an even greater impact on the Hilbert experience.”

Since joining Hilbert, Seil has provided strategic leadership for the institution’s intercollegiate athletics program, overseeing significant departmental growth, facility enhancements, branding initiatives, conference affiliations, and competitive success.

During his tenure, Seil has overseen the addition of two athletic programs, Football and Women’s Ice Hockey, helping grow Hilbert Athletics to more than 300 student-athletes. Hilbert Football was accepted as a member of the Empire 8 Conference in 2024 before transitioning to the Liberty League in 2025. Women’s Ice Hockey began competition in the United Collegiate Hockey Conference (UCHC) during the 2025-26 season.

Seil has also led several transformational initiatives within Hilbert Athletics, including the redesign of the Hilbert Athletics logo and visual identity and the rebranding of the Hafner Recreation Center. Under his leadership, the department has experienced significant staffing growth, including the hiring of head coaches for Football, Women’s Basketball, Women’s Ice Hockey, Women’s Lacrosse, Men’s Soccer, Women’s Soccer, Men’s Lacrosse, Men’s Volleyball, Women’s Volleyball, Bowling, and Men’s and Women’s Golf.

Academically and competitively, Hilbert Athletics has continued to make significant strides under Seil’s leadership. The department has produced numerous conference honorees, academic award recipients, and postseason qualifiers while strengthening its commitment to student-athlete success both in the classroom and in competition.

During the 2025-26 academic year, Hilbert student-athletes earned conference, regional, and national recognition. Additionally, 59.6 percent of Hilbert student-athletes were named to AMCC Academic All-Conference Teams, the third-highest percentage in the conference. To qualify for the honor, student-athletes must have earned a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher based on the fall 2025 semester.

“I am grateful to President Cornell and our senior leadership team for the trust and confidence they have placed in me with this opportunity,” said Seil. “Hilbert College has a strong foundation, outstanding students, and a dedicated campus community. I’m excited to continue building on that foundation and working alongside our faculty and staff to further strengthen the Hilbert experience and the opportunities available to our students.”

Seil added, “I believe Hilbert’s best days are ahead of us. We have an opportunity to build on the momentum across campus, invest in our students, and continue creating an environment where they can thrive academically, socially, and personally. I am honored to help lead that work.”

Seil will officially begin his role as Vice President for Student Life and Athletics on September 17, 2026.
